Failed Memory Symptoms.
Bad
Memory Modules may often appear to function normally.
The computer will often boot up and may even run error
free
for a period of time. However, once the particular addresses
that contain bad register(s) are utilized the symptoms
will
manifest themselves in system lockup, Blue Screens etc.
Causes of Failed Memory.
Like
any mechanical or electical device memory modules
can spontaneously fail, although this is rare. Excessive
heat
can damage memory modules as well as overvoltages from
lightning. Viruses, Spyware and Adware cannot however
damage physical hardware, memory modules included.
Diagnosis and Repair.
A simple memory diagnostic
program can quickly determine
if a particular memory module has failed. A failed
memory
module will reguire immediate replacement in order
to restore
the computer system to normal operation.
